Volunteer Counsellor Opportunities

At Cairns Counselling, we are always seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to join our team of volunteer counsellors. If you’re a qualified professional or currently training to become a counsellor or supervisor, there are excellent opportunities for you to gain valuable experience, make meaningful connections, and contribute to the well-being of our clients.

Qualified Counsellors

We welcome applications from counsellors who hold a professional counselling qualification. To be considered, you must be eligible for registration or accreditation with a professional body such as COSCA or BACP.

Trainee Counsellors

If you are currently studying for a professional qualification, you can apply for a placement with us to enhance your training through direct client work.

Supervisors – Qualified and Trainee

We also offer opportunities for both qualified supervisors and supervisors in training. Whether you’re an experienced supervisor looking to provide supervision or a trainee seeking a placement, we’d love to hear from you.

How to Apply

To express your interest in volunteering, please email us at cairns@cairnscounselling.org.uk. We will acknowledge your email and provide information regarding the next available application period.

Update

“ As a result of the sudden closure of Mental Health Aberdeen, the management team and trustees have taken the decision to temporarily change the maximum number of sessions offered from 20 to 10 sessions.

We understand that all client needs will be different and anyone attending counselling with us will have their needs assessed and completion of counselling will be done at a suitable time in agreement with your counsellor. We will always put our clients first and ensure we do the best for them. This change will take effect for all clients self-referring through the website from the 1st September 2025. If you have any questions, please email info@cairnscounselling,org.uk
